Sean Carter
Head Coach
Sean Carter is in his second year as head coach of the Idaho State volleyball program. Carter comes to Pocatello after spending the previous eight seasons as the Associate Head Coach at Wichita State. Carter is the 11th head coach in program history.
During Carter's time in Wichita the Shockers made three NCAA tournament appearances, one appearance in the NIVC, won two Missouri Valley Championships, and one American Athletic Conference Championship. In 2017, Wichita State was a Top 16 seed in NCAA Tournament.
Since 2017 he has been in charge of starting lineups, offensive scouting reports and in-game offensive adjustments. He has also overseen training setters, middles and first contacts. Sean has extensive camp coaching experience. He began working camps at the University of Arizona when he was still in high school. He spent 6 years working those camps and since then has organized and ran numerous camps at multiple different levels. One of his best attributes as a coach is his ability to train athletes. This is what makes our camps stand out. He is able to organize and design drills that teach skills to help improve every athlete in the gym.
Prior to his time at Wichita State he was the first assistant at The Masters College from 2012-2014. While there he coached the 2012 NAIA Freshman of the Year and a first-team All-American.
Carter is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a bachelors in psychology. He played on the Arizona Club team and competed in USAV Adult Nationals. He was a libero at CSU Northridge from 2006-08.
Chelsea Carter
Assistant Coach
Chelsea Carter enters her third season as an assistant coach at Idaho State University in 2024.
Prior to coming to Idaho State University, she served as an assistant coach at Wichita State University for 5 years. She also served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at George Mason in 2017, as well as both an assistant coach and strength and conditioning coach for four seasons at Sonoma State.
During her time at Wichita, Scott was in charge of defensive systems and serve receive as well as running drills. She also monitored academic performance, oversaw the student-athletes and organized/ ran camps.
During Scott's time at Sonoma State in 2013, the Seawolves won the most matches in school history with a 26-6 record and reached the regional tournament. In 2014, the Seawolves won their conference and regional tournament and advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time in school history.
In 2015, she helped guide them to another conference regular-season championship along with the conference tournament title, while advancing to the regional tournament.
Scott coached the Empire Volleyball Club from 2011-16, and has coached multiple club teams for the Shockwave Volleyball Club during her stint in Wichita.
Scott played collegiately at Concordia University in Irvine, Calif., from 2006-09. She helped the team to a 122-25 record and national championship tournament appearances all four years while playing for the Eagles. Her team finished as the national runner-up during her junior season in 2008. She was the starting libero for three of the four seasons and was named the all-conference libero twice. She received her bachelor's degree in business in 2010, with an emphasis in sport management.
